Why this exists

My name is Domenic Moran, I live in Berlin, and over the past few years I have built and shipped several products: a management system for restaurants with a till and payments, an app for Android TV devices, a private learning platform for my own preparation. All of it ran with real users, real payments and real deadlines.

What I was missing

German-language material that starts at zero and still goes all the way. There are excellent English courses, and there are German video courses that stop after three weeks at "and now we build a to-do list". What is missing is the part after that: authentication, databases, operations, security, law, payments. Exactly the part that shows in an interview whether somebody has ever shipped anything.

I was also missing an honest answer to the question of what a certificate is worth. A document for having watched videos is worth nothing because it tests nothing. That is why every certificate here hangs on a timed exam with drawn questions and a pass mark.

How the material is made

Every lesson is a text file. The same file produces the reading text, the flashcards, the exam questions and the glossary entry. That sounds like a technical detail and it is the reason nothing can drift apart: the box you see in the text is literally the same string as the card you are quizzed on later.

Before every release a check runs over all of it. It stops the build if a weekly plan has a gap, if a term is explained two different ways in two places, if a question has no explanation, or if the pool for an exam is too small. What is not right does not get built.

About the language

The material is written and recorded in German, and it stays that way for now. The interface is also available in English so that somebody without German can find their way around and knows what they are buying before they buy it. An English edition of the lessons is not announced, because I do not announce things I have not written.

What is there today

130,886 words across 111 lessons, 813 cards, 664 exam questions, 549 glossary entries and 11 planned courses, 11 of which are bookable. These figures are not typed here, they are counted at build time. They change with every lesson.

What I do not promise

No job. No placement. No personal mentoring. If you need that, a bootcamp with a three-figure monthly fee will serve you better, and I mean that without irony: some people need an appointment and somebody who chases them.

What I do promise is material that was written and reviewed properly once, a plan you can pull yourself along, and a price at which a failed attempt does not hurt.
